TikTok Video Downloading

TikTok stamps a watermark on every in-app save by design. Here is how to get a clean copy instead, where to find the right link, and what to do when a short link refuses to work.

Save a TikTok inside the app and you get that bouncing watermark plastered across it. That's not a bug — TikTok adds it on purpose so its branding travels with the clip. If you want a clean version, you have to go around the in-app save button.

Get a clean copy

Tap Share on the TikTok, then Copy Link. Open the TikTok Video Downloader, paste it, and download. What comes back has no watermark — because TikTok stores the underlying file without one; the watermark is only stamped on during in-app saves.

Why bother removing it?

For casual resharing, the watermark is fine. It becomes a problem when you want to:

  • edit the clip into a project of your own,
  • archive a video cleanly, or
  • send it to someone who'll just see a busy logo dancing over the footage.

Copying the link the right way

From the app, the Share → Copy Link route gives you a short vm.tiktok.com link. From a desktop browser, you can just copy the full tiktok.com/@user/video/... URL straight from the address bar. Both work.

On your phone

On iPhone, use Safari, download the file, then open it in the Files app and tap Save to Photos to drop it in your camera roll. On Android, Chrome saves it to Downloads and your gallery picks it up. Same as any other download — nothing TikTok-specific here.

When the link won't work

Those short vm.tiktok.com links sometimes expire or break. If you hit a "video not found" error, open the video in a browser on tiktok.com and copy the full URL from the address bar instead — that one's stable.

One thing the tool can't get around: private accounts. If a video isn't public, there's no way to pull it from outside the app, full stop.

Planning to edit the clip?

If you're grabbing TikToks to remix or trim down, the Video Trimmer lets you cut a clip to an exact length right in the browser — handy for hitting another platform's duration limit.
